We have an upcoming feature in the mag where we will be destroying several gadgets using fearsome power tools. We really haven’t decided what gadgets to ‘recycle’ so we’re asking for suggestions from you, dear blog readers. It can be anything from digicams, cellphones, laptops and other stuff. If you’re willing to donate gadgets for demolition, we might accept them too. Leave your email on the comments page.

Don’t hate us cause we’re beautiful, hate us cause of the kick a$$ deals we got at the Microwarehouse Mid-Year Sale held last Friday and Saturday in Eastwood.
After basically living there for two days, we were able to take home quite a few bargains, a 2,500 Php HW 6515 (HP Ipaq GPS pocket pc phone), 1,900 Php Klipsch Jabra S5010 speakers (SRP of around 8,000 Php), 4,000 Php Bose Triport Around Ear cans (SRP of around 7,900 Php) and a Dopod D810 for 15,000 Php (SRP of 42,000 Php).

For those who didn’t make it this time don’t worry more deals await in December when Microwarehouse has its year-end clearance.

post Mini-Karaoke, smaller than a Rubik’s cube

When the Japanese make gadgets, they sure know what gadgets will bring in the Yen.
Introducing the portable karaoke machine, the Hi-Kara measures a diminutive 2.75-inch cube with a 2.4-inch screen and will pack in 10 downloaded songs per cartridge, while the microphone-headset lets you sing and listen to songs without any bloodshed from anyone having to listen to your rendition of Frank Sinatra’s undying My Way. Unfortunately, the Hi-Kara will only be available by October and still in Japanese, but we’ll give a few months ‘til the US starts releasing its own version then maybe we’ll start seeing the end of the iPod’s reign.

post 69 Superjumbos in the works for APAC-based carriers

According to the latest tally by Airbus, a total of 69 (of a worldwide total of 192) A380s have been ordered by APAC-based carriers. Qantas and Singapore Airlines top the list with 20 and 19 units respectively. No word yet if PAL will join in on the wagon, but it does seem like a logical acquisition especially with OFW numbers ballooning to an all-time high.

post The View from T3 Towers

June 10th, 2008

T3 has moved. For five years now, we’ve been slaving away in the dungeons of Robinsons Galleria and now we’re moving on up, out into the sunlight. “T3 Towers” has always been something of an inside joke, a barb about the cruel ironies of life in publishing. But now, it’s becoming something of a reality. Sure, we’re only six floors up, but to us Summit rats, it’s seven! Our new address is at 6/F Robinsons Cybergate Tower 3, Pioneer Street, Mandaluyong City.

post Nissan attempts a Grand entry in the local MPV market

grand livinia

Not content with letting its competitors take the all glory, Nissan Motors Philippines claims a stake in the MPV segment with the local launch of the Grand Livina. The vehicle was presented this evening to a waiting crowd inside the One Esplanade exhibition center in Pasay City. In a seeming nod to its target market, an ‘80s video montage and dance medley served as prelude to the Grand Livina’s first stage appearance. It’s being marketed as an MPV with a soul and performance of a sedan; a family car for dads and moms in their 30s and 40s. Perhaps it’s not just an empty marketing pitch, since the Grand Livina’s suspension has been derived not only from a mere sedan, but from Nissan’s own high performance sports car, the 350Z. The Grand Livina’s MSRP starts at P848K for the base Elite model with 1.8L engine. It goes up to P968K for the full packed Elegance model. Expect the vehicle to make its entrance in Nissan’s showrooms by June 14.
