3G PHONE
Twice the X Factor
Über thin with hefty features

Finally, a mtorola RAZR that's razor-thin but isn't flimsy! The Maxx V6's solid rubberized housing is reminiscent of the V3x—only thinner. Though its design is similar to the rugged V3x, the V6 Maxx is more stylish, especially with its colored external screen and touch-screen buttons. The touch-screen feature leans on being a novelty, though, as they are meant only for music playback.

The camera takes average quality photos and it takes roughly five seconds for the viewfinder to work upon activating the camera. As for its music player, playing tracks on its built-in loudspeaker results in tinny, and not to mention tiny sound, as the speaker is located at the back of the unit. Listening to music through Bluetooth stereo headphones or speakers resulted in more ear-friendly results.

Like its Moto siblings, its interface is still user-unfriendly. Although the sub-menus are now consistent, little things have been overlooked, like message navigation. For instance, if you want to check one of your older messages, you have to scroll all the way down - you can't scroll up to reveal your oldest messages.

Should you need to surf the web, the V6 has an Internet shortcut key, so you can get around the confusing menu interface. Its Internet browser is its most notable feature, with its speed and full HTML support. You view websites as you do seen on any PC. This complements the phone's crisp and vibrant display, which can be viewed clearly even under direct sunlight.

Overall, the V6 Maxx is a visual feast. It's got a slim yet solid housing, a dazzling LCD screen, and with it, Internet surfing is great even without a mouse!

The slim Samsung Z560 HSDPA clamshell phone has a better interface, but doesn't feel as solid as the V6 Maxx. Another attractive—and solid—clamshell with fine Internet features is the Sony Ericsson Z750, but isn't as slender as the other two units.
