MOBILE PHONE
NOKIA 6260  | P19,000 |
Here's a Nokia with a twist

The gymnast of the world of mobile phones, the Nokia 6260 also possesses the bulk of an Olympic weightlifter and the grace of an ice skater. It boasts of chic style while remaining adaptable to the business environment. Users will find that their fingers will get more exercise than they've bargained for though, building their muscles around these parts.

The 6260 has a classic clamshell design that is paired with timeless silver and black colors, and it has a bright display that swivels. This allows you to use the phone in different modes for the camera, or video.

Sold as a business handset, the phone is obviously designed for a businessman's hand. The massive keys are easy to press and very responsive compared to the other Nokia phones. However, the distribution of keys between the two halves of the unit can be a bit awkward for first-time users. Fingers may need to be stretched and warmed up before they reach for the keys on the top half of the handset.

Despite the sturdy, muscular look, the folded clamshell is a bit wobbly when shut, which may scare you into thinking the phone might be broken. The design needs improvement compared to other clamshells offered by other brands.

Triband GSM. 178 x 208-pixel, 65,536-color LCD. VGA camera. MP3 audio. Bluetooth. MMC support.
A classic twisting design coupled with functionality.
The phone has a customizable interface to suit anyone's requirements. The selection keys can be modified, linking regularly used features to the main interface design. The user can also backup data from the unit into their PCs. It comes in handy with Quickword and Quickpoint, permitting you to access Word documents and Powerpoint files conveniently.

Speed is a major drawback. It's about as fast as an old lady driving on a freeway. The amount of time it needs to process information is slow by any standard. It takes aeons to think and execute a command. Turning the phone on after it has been turned off can be a gruelling task.

At the end of the day, the 6260 does a balancing act between form and function, and the handset defines the correct balance between these two. It combines convenience and ease of use with a chic modernity. If speed is not a major concern, this phone can be recommended for yuppies in the rat race, looking for a twist. - Milaine Sy
