Flame On!
The flame seems designed the way the Pentagon spends money: damn the cost, damn the size, and full speed ahead! Everything was thrown in: 3.6-inch display, Wi-Fi, 520Mhz Xscale Processor, dual cams, and an amazing 2GB of internal memory. They've been hyping these devices as small computers. With its own NVIDIA GoForce 5500 video processor, the Flame fits the description of small computer best.
It's has a good heft to it, making it feel like a man's phone. Its physical footprint is nicely coupled with a sparse placement of buttons. In the front are six buttons plus one multi-directional button. Its seamless design makes it appear less, though.
Power up the machine and you'll find that everything—sked, e-mail, SMS messages, etc—is laid out for you. One of the best new additions is a USB adapter for attaching flash drives. This creates even more memory opportunity.
There are two cameras but it's better to use the auto focus 2MP in the back. The sound from the speakers is definitely on the strong side as far as phones go.
The weak link remains to be the OS. It still has WM's flaws; slow operation and not closing programs once you ‘close' them. That and its heavy price tag. Pity. Dinzo Tabamo
