IM3 I'm not
The holy grail of the gadget aficionado is the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), which can be likened to surplus overruns of tech goodies instead of clothes. It's almost the same gadget without the impressive brand name, the higher price, and the grammatically correct manual. (This one's read “Applied On Porsonal Computer and Handy Phone Music”.) The All-In-One Compact Speaker is just that: the identical twin to the popular Altec Lansing InMotion IM3.
Autobots roll out, and pump up the volume while you're at it; these speakers transform with the best of them. Its not-so-original, spring-loaded mechanism allows the cradle to fold flat into its body, making it incredibly easy to bag. Another nice but not so original touch is the aux in port where you can plug secondary audio devices into. It's great for adding oomph to your measly notebook speakers or portable DVD player.
Synching with your iTunes is a breeze thanks to the mini USB port located in the back. Keep in mind though that you can't synch and listen to music at the same time. Still, the All-In-One Compact Speaker is great for the Podestrian who wants to break free from the shackles of earphones. The neodymium micro drivesr deliver clear highs, and with a little tweaking, you can get decent mid range audio, but don't expect much when it comes to booming the bass. The audio distorts when the volume is maxed out.
This isn't the perfect identical twin to the Altec Lansing IM3 either. The slot where the IM3's remote should be located is replaced by an odd, useless piece of rectangular plastic. But with a speaker system so small, there's really no need for a remote. With this clone, you get ultimate portability at a price that's impossible to beat. Ibba Rasul Bernardo
