Looks can be deceiving
THE S 606HCS3 IS Imeldifically expensive looking. All the speakers have elegant piano-finished cabinets surrounded with wood veneer. The series also features Decoupled Tweeter Technology - silk, dome tweeters for better high-frequency sound reproduction - and Hard Conical Cones - a distinctive woofer design that doesn't suffer from breakup at working frequencies.
Down below, the Sub 250 is designed to be matched with any speaker system and thus seamlessly integrated, just like Imelda's shoes. It uses a long-throwing 8-inch driver housed in a slotted Bass Reflex Port cabinet. It also features a BASH amplifier which is capable of delivering 250 watts peak power and frequencies down to 30Hz. Now that's bass sound realism.
With all that bling, the S 606HCS3 can perform, though not in a grandiose Streisand kind of way. It's generally warm-sounding. Some may even find it lacking in detail, but that's good in the long run as listening fatigue won't set in. Lester Galla
