SPEAKERS
Sounds travels – and it will take you along
Just one look at the compact-sleek JBL On Tour Portable Music Box and you will picture yourself going places. Trekking the hills of Batanes. Riding the waves in La Union. Taking the north-south train in Vietnam. Watching the sun go down in Palawan. That’s the power of truly portable technology.
Before you run to the airport, run to the nearest appliance store and get yourself these speakers. Yes, we are telling you to go and buy the JBL On Tour Portable Music Box now because:
1. It outportables all the other portables. In fact, it’s fits-in-your-pocket portable (if said pocket is about six inches long). Who would’ve thought a simple sliding case could house speakers? When closed, the case protects the speakers. When open, it serves as a stand. That’s clean and superbly simple design.
2. Its now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t design allows you to bring it anywhere in the world and back without weighing down your backpack. And if you’re worried about gadget theft, the no-frills look will not attract the eyes of loco locals.

It’s for the gadget-overloaded traveler who wants desperately to pack a lighter bag.

3. Can’t stand the sight of a black power adaptor? Load in four AAA batteries instead.
4. If home or office use is your trip, the design is small-space-friendly, and lets you plunk it on top of the nearest messy pile. Don’t worry, it’s got surface-gripping rubber feet underneath so it doesn’t go slip-sliding.
But how’s the sound? Very smooth, my iFriend. No speaker fuzz. You can rock, as it’s powered with digital amplifier technology. We found the small speakers most suitable for chilling, grooving, easy listening. You control the volume easily with two silver buttons. To mute, press both at the same time.
Set-up’s a no-brainer. Just plug it in and attach the audio input cable to your iPod, iPod mini, MP3 player, CD player, or laptop earphone jack and you’re good to play. There’s just one drawback: it doesn’t charge your iPod while playing unlike its donut-shaped, dock-equipped sibling, the JBL On Stage. Nitpickers may also whine about not being able to slide the case shut while playing. Ah, almost perfect. The good news is, this baby’s budget-friendly. What you save can go to another night in a paradise beach.
