Monster speed
Hard to handle
If you can't afford an exotic car, you can always buy a Lamborghini-inspired laptop. At least that's the idea behind Asus' Lamborghini line of lappies. With a name like “Lamborghini VX2” – one part supercar, one part German WWII rocket – this PC has to be spec'd for speed, and, boy, is it.
With an Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 processor, Nvidia GeForce Go7700 video card, and 2GB of RAM, this laptop has a beast of an engine that outpaces virtually any other laptop in the market. It even looks the part. Ours was wrapped in ultra-light carbon fiber and leather trimmings.
But power is nothing without handling, and this is where the Lambo shows its shortcomings. Turn it on, and you're greeted with the sound of a revving engine. The small speakers make this Italian sports car sound like a toy car. The trackpad is a nightmare to use with buttons that are impossible to press. And the big 15.4-inch LCD screen showed artefacts on our DVD that didn't appear when we outputted the video to other screens. With such a powerful processor, it vents out heat that can get uncomfortable on the lap. This sports car laptop has a lot to offer. But with handling issues, it's more monster rocket car than suave Italian sports car. Vince Sales

HATE The dismal trackpad. Disappointing audio and video output.
WE SAY Great for going fast in straight lines. Best to park this one on your desktop.
