Pacquiao's laptop
Lightweight champ packs a punch
Corporate laptops, beware! The Fujitsu Lifebook S7110 is going in for the kill. Equipped with a powerful Intel Core Duo processor, 512MB DDR RAM (4GB maximum), and an 80GB hard disk, this portable computing machine will not fold in the face of competition. With these specs, multi-tasking is effortless. But the real secret to its mean left hook is the various security options available to the data-theft paranoid user.
The laptop's security provisions include the BIOS lock, two-password hard disk lock, LifeBook lock, two anti-theft lock slots, Smart Card support, Trusted Platform Module (TPM v.1.2) option, and in true tech-geek fashion, the fingerprint sensor. These surely go beyond any 1-2-3 punch combo! Don't break too much sweat though, or you'll fail the fingerprint authentication; sweat causes a smudged reading. Now, should your hands sweat buckets, worry not – the Lifebook S7110's keyboard is spill-resistant (but not entirely waterproof).
As for endurance, battery life lasts for about four rounds, er, hours, when subject to normal use, but watching DVDs consumes all the power in half the time. Better to watch with the adapter plugged in, unless you'd rather miss the ending – to which some might say, “Better to miss the ending than prolong listening to the lousy built-in speakers.” The bass is barely audible. But it's nothing that a decent pair of external speakers can't fix, so there's hope yet.
Overall, the S7110 is a contender: a potential prize fighter among high-end power laptops. Mike Diez
