PRINTER
HP LASERJET 3030  | P31,099 |
Feel the pressing need for an assistant?

Do you have the luxury of working from home, waking up when you please, preparing documents in your pajamas and slacking off anytime you feel like it? You lucky bum! Aside from turning us green with envy, you’ve also become HP’s object of affection, with their LaserJet 3030 All-In-One.

You see, HP thinks that their LaserJet 3030 is the perfect companion to the Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) set. They’ve managed to cram a monochrome printer, copier, color scanner and fax into a unit that takes up very little desktop real estate. It’s all a tidy little package that just begs you to walk up and use it.

Being a monochrome printer, the 3030 had no trouble churning out page after page of text. Even small font faces were printed legibly. We had slight problems printing photos though, losing some detail in larger images. As a copier, the HP is quite straightforward. You can select the number of copies and adjust brightness with the help of the control panel. You can also choose to output the copy to a file on your computer, or just have the 3030 print it out. Surprise, surprise – it scans (to file) in color! This let us do some basic image editing and tweaking. Scanning speed was average, but lay a big photo on the bed, and you’d best be advised to go for a short coffee break first. Being the electronic/internet/interactive age, we had to refer to the manual on how to work the facsimile. Thankfully, it was just as easy to use as the All-In-One’s other functions.

Prints up to 15 ppm at up to 1200 dpi black effective output. 7,000 pages per month duty cycle. Scans at 9600x9600 dpi enhanced & 600x600 dpi optical. Copies up to 15 ppm. Enlarges/reduces from 25 to 400%. 1 parallel port, 1 USB port. Built-in faxmodem. PC and Mac compatible.
Handy if you use ALL its features MOST of the time.
Tying all this together is HP’s software suite. While you can scan, copy and fax autonomously on the 3030, certain functions require the installation of the software. It is a necessary step – if only to maximize this office asset. Speaking of which, if your office has an opening for a jack-of-all-trades, you can add this HP to the resume pile. - JayJ Ramos
