No manual required...
Operation of the Z730 couldn't be any simpler: open the box, charge the battery, start shooting. Its features are fairly typical, including autofocus, program and manual exposure, assorted color modes, and a movie mode with sound. Users who aren't well-versed with utilizing different exposure will be pleased with a multitude of presets available, such as night portrait (for darker lighting conditions) or beach (for outdoor sunlit shots). More advanced users can fiddle around with more complicated settings, like ISO and exposure.
Then again, Z730's image quality is impressive. The shots came out fairly sharp and detailed, churning out vibrant color. We also had no problem switching from low light conditions indoors to brighter outdoor shots. 4x optical zoom brought the action a little closer, and when mixed with all the different modes you can play with, the camera is pretty fun to toy around with.
Its ergonomics are also better than expected, with a comfortable grip and convenient button placement. The casing is a mix of plastic and metal, sturdy enough to manhandle on occasion but still not the rugged cam needed by more adventurous weekend warriors. It's really more of a family album kind of camera.

So simple, yet so effective.

The LCD's 2.2 inches of real estate is more than adequate for viewing pictures. Viewing from all but several extreme angles still produced a clear image. A useful tool was the LCD's ability to increase brightness in low light conditions, making it easier to take those night shots.
Overall, the Z730 is a great choice for users looking for an easy-to-use camera with advanced features, all while staying within a reasonable budget. For about 18,000 bucks, you get a 5-megapixel camera with 4x zoom and a ton of features to keep you busy. Sold! - Andrew Garcia
