Mju complete me
Though when it comes 5-megapixel digital cameras, the Mju 500 isn't the first one that comes to mind, first-time digital camera buyers will surely opt for this reasonably-priced and easy-to-use beauty from Olympus against similarly-priced cameras.
The first thing you'll notice when you get your hands on the Mju 500 is the impressive 2.5-inch HyperCrystal LCD screen. Though it doesn't rotate or flip like other screens, this massive screen allows you to view your subject even from extreme angles with its 160-degree wide-view radius. The only downside of having an LCD screen this huge is the tendency for it to be scratched and smudged.
Another plus is the Mju 500's weatherproof casing, which allows the camera to shrug off a splash or two. The camera's exterior is made of a durable, lightweight metal with rubber gaskets running throughout the interior. After an "accidental" dunking, you'll be relieved to find out that the camera will still work. Don't tempt fate though; it's weatherproof, not waterproof.
In addition to the all-weather exterior, the camera sports a new flat-surface design that takes the curvy Mju series in a new direction. Its smooth and rounded edges make the camera comfortable to hold and easy to handle. Its compact size of 3.9 x 2.2 x 1.2 inches allows it to fit snugly into your pocket.

The camera's also boasts of 23 easy-to-use shooting modes, such as shooting portrait, landscape, fireworks, and more. It offers two shoot and select modes, which allows you to shoot in rapid sequence then select the best from the series.
More than just a stills camera, the Mju 500 also allows you to narrate personalized audio captions for images, as well as record videos with sound. In fact, using its QuickTime Movie Mode, you can record movies of any length - limited only by the size of your memory card. Get a big one for video. The 32MB xD card bundled with it isn't enough.
A fast, high-quality image processor enables you to take vibrant images. The startup time of less than one second and the camera's nearly instant shutter release allow you to be constantly ready to take great pictures.
When taking macro shots, the camera also proved that it is capable of capturing a fair amount of detail. If you're thinking of going big time - say, printing a poster of your girlfriend - the Mju 500 will definitely deliver. Its 5-megapixel CCD allows you to print high quality photos that can be printed to 11 x 14 inches.
The Mju 500 will have you snapping at almost anything the minute you get hold of it. If you're after a point-and-shoot camera that is capable of producing good vibrant images with minimum effort, the Olympus Mju 500 is an excellent choice. Mju won't regret it.
